Trademore — Device trade-in platform redesign.
Comprehensive redesign of Verizon's Trademore device trade-in and re-commerce platform — unifying the guest and logged-in header patterns, standardising navigation, redesigning the device browse experience, and aligning account and order management across 46 screens.
How it started
Trademore is Verizon's device trade-in and re-commerce platform — allowing customers to sell devices, buy refurbished phones, smart watches, and tablets, and trade up to newer models. The platform served both guest and logged-in users across Sell a Device and Buy a Device flows.
The existing platform had accumulated significant usability issues: inconsistent header patterns between guest and logged-in modes, an inconsistent search input field, a mismatched shopping cart icon, and navigation structures that differed between the two user states without a clear rationale. I was tasked with a comprehensive redesign to unify the experience across both modes.
Key issues identified
- Inconsistent search input — Search field styling differed between guest mode and logged-in mode, breaking visual consistency across the most-used element on the page.
- Inconsistent shopping cart icon — Cart icon treatment varied between header states, causing users to doubt whether they were in a consistent platform.
- Navigation divergence — Guest mode showed: HOME / SELL A DEVICE / BUY A DEVICE / ABOUT / ACCOUNT / SIGN-IN / TRACK ORDER. Logged-in mode collapsed Account into a dropdown but kept the same top-level items inconsistently.
- Recently purchased / Recently traded — These personalised sections appeared without clear visual hierarchy on the landing page, creating cognitive overload.
